Why do you do this?
Living in shared flats is the most beautiful way of life – we ourselves have been enjoying it for years. But the search for new roommates was always the biggest pain. In addition, we know people who are not happy in their shared flat because the vibe is just not right. That’s why we decided to found heyroom: No more 94738 copy-paste applications, endless WG castings and purpose-built flats.
Where does the name come from?
“hey” stands for a positive and open attitude to life and “room” for the fact that the shared flat gives everyone their space for development and privacy.
What is new, different and unique about your app?
heyroom offers the greatest advantages for existing shared flats – these deposit the vibe of the shared flat when advertising the free room – consisting of interests and values such as: “Hiking, Daydrinking, Environment, Art, Veggy”. Then you can see which of the applicants are the best fit.
Who supports you?
We already get support from some local memes (shout out to hubsiundhorsti2.0). In general, our budget is of course limited – so we are happy about any support! We do everything we can to ensure that heyroom works optimally, but we need the support of every shared flat to really make a difference. Therefore: Like, share, and tell your friends – together we can create the shared world we deserve. We want to change the image in the long term and bring it to where it has long belonged: to the centre of society.
What do you do when you're not working on your project?
Enjoy life, spend a lot of time with our friends and sometimes roam around the houses in the evening.
What do you love about Munich?
We love life, our circle of friends and shared flats. In general, the quality of life is simply right when you surround yourself with the right people. Even the rental prices can (sometimes) be forgotten for a moment.
How does heyroom make it easier to find the right shared flat and roommates?
If you offer a room in a shared flat, you can see directly from the “vibe score” which of the 913741 applicants suits you best. Then you can check the profiles of the favorites in detail and find roommates who really fit well into your shared apartment. The time of copy-paste messages and endless flatshare castings is finally over!
What goal are you pursuing?
Our goal at heyroom is to turn the shared apartment scene upside down and ensure that no one has to live in “purpose-built shared flats” anymore. In the future, people who do not actually have to move out at all and already live in large apartments will also start looking for the right shared flat. The resulting free rooms create a chain reaction and completely turn the shared apartment scene upside down. So let’s revolutionize the shared apartment scene together and finally live together with roommates with whom the vibe is right.
