- New community channels: More closeness, more stories, more heyroom: heyroom is opening a new chapter with the launch of the new Instagram channel and the revamped website. More real insights, more tips for everyday life in a shared flat – and a platform that shows what living together really means today.
- Focus on closeness instead of high gloss: instead of fake 0815, it’s about honest stories, shared experiences – and a community that shows how diverse shared flat living is today.
Press release no. 03/2025
Berlin, April 2025 – Shared flats are more than just square meters and rents. They are shared everyday life. What often remains invisible in numbers can now be experienced on heyroom’s new website and Instagram channel.
This week, heyroom launched a website upgrade and a new social media presence – creating not only visibility for the diversity of co-living, but also a platform for exchange, inspiration and community.
“We want to show what shared flat living really means – away from clichés. Not perfectly styled, but honest, close and human,” says Johannes Bader, founder and CEO of heyroom.
What happens on the channel:
- Shared flat portraits and real insights – shared flats show how they live, what they share and what connects them.
- Personal voices – from very different constellations.
- Tips for everyday life in a shared flat – from cleaning schedules to conflict resolution.
- Matchmaking stories – how “I’m looking for a room” suddenly became a home
- Community features – surveys, discussions, open questions for everyone who lives or wants to live in a shared flat
With the new website, heyroom is pursuing a clear goal:
Connecting people who live (or want to live) in shared flats. Not just about room offers – but about experiences, ideas and everyday life.
“We want people to think to themselves as they scroll: ‘This is how I want to live. Instagram becomes a digital shared kitchen – open, lively, without filters,” says Johannes Bader.
Real, not staged – just like living in a shared flat
While many platforms reduce the topic of housing to areas, prices and location data, heyroom shows the other side: what you don’t read in the apartment ad, but what happens every day.
Because living is always emotional. Community, closeness, conflict, reconciliation, connection. That’s what makes shared flats special – and the channels worth watching.

More about heyroom
While co-living concepts often sell overpriced micro-apartments in an anonymous hotel atmosphere, heyroom focuses on real community and fair rents – for a co-living experience that feels like home.
The image of a shared flat as a chaotic interim solution has had its day. heyroom thinks of shared flats as they really are: as places where you support each other and someone asks how your day was. Shared flats as a conscious decision for community – and as an answer to the challenges of our time.
Shared flats are not only practical, they stand for togetherness that counteracts isolation and conserves resources. They are places where friendships are formed that have an impact far beyond the shared flat and form the foundation for vibrant communities and social cohesion.
But while heyroom celebrates the advantages of shared flats, they are politically treated like temporary communities of convenience – not like what they have long been for many: modern families of choice. heyroom therefore sees itself not only as a platform for finding shared flats, but also as a mouthpiece for communal and sustainable living.
